Everything you will see happens in the space of a second. When I first saw this I thought that it was something that our heroine had done but this photo tells the tale. Sky is looking into the ditch, and he sees a couple of jump standards and a cross pole that are there to be out of the way. I believe that his posture explains what happens next.
